Our Personal Trainers

Stephanie Johnson, MS, CPT, HFS

JEA Health and Wellness Director

Stephanie has her Master's in Exercise Science and an Athletic Training background. She has been a certified Personal Trainer (ACE) and Health and Fitness Specialist (ACSM) for the past 10 years. Stephanie has worked with clients of many different levels of fitness and ages. She takes the time to get to know her client and designs programs to fit their individual needs and abilities. With Stephanie's background in athletic training, she prides herself in designing programs for those that are/have been injured and wanting to continue their journey to a healthier and fit lifestyle. She has worked with youth, athletes, expectant mothers, new mothers, men, and the elderly.

Stephanie not only works out the client, she is always encouraging them to make better eating choices.

 

Elaine Fox

Elaine has a varied history as a manager, school teacher and fitness instructor. Her background blends a unique set of skills in education, social services, and the fitness industry. Her experience spans the generations from nursery school to senior fitness. Elaine is certified as a Personal Trainer through AFFA, plus as a Kripalu Yoga Teacher, Silver Sneakers Instructor, Osteoporossis Prevention Instructor for the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services, and Tai Chi for Arthritis Instructor. Elaine has two specialties: Yoga and Senior Fitness. You may sign up for 1-1 personal training in either of these areas with her.

 

Janice Steirn

Janice holds certifications from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) in both Personal Training and Weight and Lifestyle Management Consulting. Janice also has a Ph.D. in Psychlogy with a specialization in Learning (Behavioral Change) and is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Georgia Southern University. Janice is eager to help anyone who would like to work out and/or meet for Lifestyle Management Consulting. Because she has weight struggles of her own, Janice is able to identify with the emotional correlations of being overweight. Personal training is available for individuals or pairs. Weight and Lifestyle Management Consulting is available for individuals, pairs or small groups (including families).

David Collison

David has been our full-time trainer for the last seven years. He has more than twenty years experience in personal training. David came to us from the 1/75th Ranger Battalion where he was a Ranger Instructor, and cross trained with many of the elite forces around the world. David decided to continue with fitness as a profession. He became a trainer through ISSA and is certified in reflexology massage therapy. He offers a personalized approach for each client. David uses a variety of training methods to keep clients motivated and on track; weight training, strength and conditioning, TRX Suspension, kickboxing, kettlebells, and more. He will challenge you in every workout. You'll catch yourself wanting to come back for more.

 

Billy Johnson, CSCS, SAQ

Billy has 12 years of fitness experience and specialized sports training. He has and continues to train high school through professional athletes for many different sports! Billy works with a variety of clients of all ages and abilities. He is always challenging his clients to achieve their optimal fitness level. Billy strives to provide specialized training programs to anyone that needs to be helped and/or change their physical abilities.

His training philosophy is to provide specialized training programs for changing lifestyles through mental, nutritional, and physical training, and to achieve optimal health through physical fitness training by setting fitness goals.

Kathy Ackerman

Kathy Ackerman has been in the fitness industry for over 25 years. She started her career as a physical education teacher and soon realized her true passion was training and recreational programming. Over the years she has created and taught a wide range of programs, all reflective of her own commitment to good physical health and spiritual well-being. These programs have included aquatics, sports, and fitness training for all age groups from children to senior citizens; sports safety, Yoga and Pilates. Kathy has choreographed and produced a successful Yoga Pilates exercise DVD. She is a Master Trainer in both Pilates and Yoga, and has conducted several training seminars around the country.

 

Kathy holds certifications with: AFAA, IFTA, American Red Cross, American Arthritic Assoc., AEA, Ellis and Assoc., YogaFit, Shanti Yoga, Physical Mind Institute, IM=X Pilates and is registered with Yoga Alliance.

 

Kathy uses positive motivation and encourage-ment to inspire others. She is delighted as her students make progress and is their biggest cheerleader. She is eager to share, totally involved and completely supportive. Kathy’s vision is to combine her experience and knowledge with her programming to help heal and strengthen others.
